Defending Champ in the Mix; Comparing Omaha Fields

Last year's champion, Michael Christ, sat down on level one of this tournament looking to defend his title.
In 2024, Christ waded through a field of 1,555 total entries to win his first gold bracelet. With less than 400 entries remaining in the field in Event #27: $1,500 Big O, it is becoming increasingly more likely to have a back-to-back winner.
Christ is sitting with a healthy stack. While there was a decrease in entries of this particular Big O event with only 1,499 runners; that is likely attributed to the overlap of Event #24: $1,500 Pot-Limit Omaha Double Board Bomb Pot, which is essentially a different kind of chopped-pot Omaha that uses a high-hand ranking on two boards.
Last year's Double Board Bomb Pot event only offered a Bomb Pot between each game change (No-Limit Hold'em/Pot-Limit Omaha) but with the new structure change there were assuredly many Omaha enthusiasts drawn to the other event. With a total of 1,452 entries; the Big O proved to be a slightly more popular event.
