Event #24: $1,500 Pot-Limit Omaha Double Board Bomb Pot

Day 3 Completed

Mixed Game Maestro Xixiang Luo Bags $290,400 and Third WSOP Bracelet

If you thought bomb pots were all luck, think again.

Xixiang Luo took down Event Event #24: $1,500 Pot-Limit Omaha Double Board Bomb Pot for $290,400 and his third WSOP bracelet, proving once again that he’s a master of the unconventional. He defeated Robert Klein heads-up to close out one of the most chaotic and unique events on the schedule.

This brand new event made its debut at the 2025 World Series of Poker and lit up the Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas with nonstop action. A total of 1,452 entries jumped into the mix, creating a $1,927,530 prize pool in a format that kept everyone guessing until the final river card.

Luo was right at home in the chaos. Known for embracing variety, he added this PLO Double Board title to a resume that already includes wins in the $25,000 High Roller H.O.R.S.E. and last year’s mixed No-Limit Hold’em/PLO version of the same format. When the structure gets strange, Luo finds a way.

“This game is new. Very, very fun,” he said after the win. “Mixed games are better for me. Hold’em is okay, but too many players.” The interview was translated by a friend, but Luo’s grin and energy told the story. He’s not just playing these formats. He’s running them over.

Winner’s Reaction

Luo was all smiles after locking up bracelet number three. “I’m happy,” he said simply. “I like new games. Much more fun than just Hold’em.”

When asked about what’s next, Luo said he’s planning to play only mixed game events for the rest of the summer. “Only mixed,” he laughed. “Maybe the Seniors Event,” he joked, pointing at his baby face. As for No-Limit Hold’em, he only has eyes for one tournament. “Just the Main Event.”

Even after locking up $290,400 in prize money, Luo couldn’t help but crack a joke. “No money,” he said, grinning at the rail. The room laughed, but everyone watching knows the truth. Luo is rich in talent and confidence, especially when the formats get funky.

His love for mixed games isn’t new. He’s been seen shouting “I love mixed games” after wins before, and his record backs it up. With bracelets in H.O.R.S.E., a mixed double board event, and now this new PLO variant, Luo has shown he’s one of the most creative and versatile players in the field.

It’s not just the results, it’s how he gets them. Luo plays with calm, clarity, and a sense of fun, no matter how strange the format. Three bracelets in around a year is no fluke. If another new game drops into the WSOP schedule, don’t be surprised if Luo is the one holding the gold strap again.

Luo's Journey to Bracelet #3

Just 13 players came back for Day 3 and Luo was on top of the pack when it got underway. That lead stayed with him when the final table began, with three other previous bracelet winners still in the hunt. Samuel Stranak, Danny Wong, and Ian Matakis were all on the prowl and looking to add another bracelet to their own mantlepiece.

Wong took out Matakis in seventh, and with six players remaining, Luo took a huge leap towards victory after scooping a massive pot against Brian Smith, which left him with more than half of the chips in play.

Luo played his part in sending Smith out in fifth and then momentarily lost his chip lead to Klein after several pots went the American player’s way.

Wong exited in fourth and Stranak was putting on a masterclass in survival and stayed alive through multiple all-in situations before Luo eventually got the scoop he was looking for to bring it down to heads up.

Luo entered heads-up play with a slender lead, and although the stacks got to even at one point, Luo seemed far too consistent at picking up the small pots, leaving Klein with no answer.

The two-hour duel finally came to an end when Luo flopped a bigger flush on the top board and turned a straight on the bottom. The rivers changed nothing, and Luo claimed his third WSOP bracelet in the space of 12 months.

That wraps up PokerNews coverage of Event #24: $1,500 Pot-Limit Omaha Double Board Bomb Pot. Stick with us throughout the rest of the series to find out who else will rise, run deep, and walk away with a bracelet of their own.
